Braun SE7280 Silk-Epil Xpressive Epilator Body System Review

Like many other women, I’ve done the traditional shaving and bikini waxing for years. It’s part of my daily, have-to-look-good ritual, but sometimes a gal just wants a break. Which is why I got into epilating big-time and have been doing it since. So why did I choose the Braun SE7280 Silk-Epil Xpressive Epilator Body System? It was the pivoting head thing that promises to move around your body contours for really thorough hair control. I love gadgets and this one had a pretty feminine design to it that caught my eye. Slender curves, a white body and subtle tones of pastel pink. It also guaranteed very smooth skin, much longer time in between shaves and softer, finer re-growth. They also said it provided fast and painless hair removal, plus it came with Olay pre-epilation wipes to soften the skin before you start. My experience is as follows:

PROS:

  • It’s great that the epilator has different power settings. At first I ignored the beginner cap, to my very painful detriment. But when I used the beginner cap things were a lot more endurable. After about 3 or 4 epilations, I moved onto the efficiency cap which uses the full power. That gives you a fabulous result, with skin that is so hairless and smooth to the touch. It still hurts, but it’s endurable pain once every two weeks.
  • Not having to shave every day is such a joy. I can usually go two weeks in between shaves. I calculated that’s 26 times a year of epilating instead of 365 days of shaving. Also, my new hair grows back is much finer.
  • I’m glad I picked this epilator because of the pivoting head; it gives you such flexibility round the various corners such as the knees. It’s also quite light to hold and with a good grip.
  • Then I dared to use it on my stomach. You see, I have dark hair but very fair skin so the hairs on my stomach form this line from my chest to crotch that I’m so conscious of. I gave the Xpressive a try and … yup, it really hurt! Oh, but my tummy look so yummy so the results are absolutely worth the sting.
  • The smart-light is great. Somehow I missed that when reading up on the features before I bought it. So it was a pleasant surprise to find a little flashlight. Suddenly I found hairs in places I thought were hairless.

CONS:

  • The hair doesn’t grow back at the same rate – they didn’t say that anywhere on the package, unless I missed it. My lower leg hairs grow back much faster than the hair my thighs and arms. So then I have to do a shave or two in between while I wait for the rest of the body hairs to catch up with the lower legs. But I definitely recommend it because the long-term results are so worth it and you get the well deserved break in between epilating.
  • The price almost put me off … a hundred bucks! It’s not a cheap tool by any means but then I did some quick maths and figured that what I spend in shavers and waxing in six months is more than the price of this epilator. I’ve now had it for almost 1 year and it’s a great buy.

All in all, this is a really good epilator that matches with up the famous Braun 5270 and Braun SE3170. But the pivoting head on this one gives this a slight edge when it comes to having really complete hair removal. I would definitely recommend this epilator  if its within your budget.
